JOB DESCRIPTION:Performs, calculates, reviews and reports laboratory diagnostic tests. Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment. Understands the clinical significance of the testing performed. Responsibilities for teaching, training, correction of procedural/instrument issues increase through the range of MLS I to MLS III. (See Accountabilities.)EDUCATION:Bachelor Degree in biological science or chemistry and current Medical Laboratory Scientist certification. (Certification tracked by department.)Preferred: Masters degree in biologic science, specifically molecular biologyEXPERIENCE:Meets requirements of MLS I. Expanded knowledge of laboratory tests. In addition, three of more years to molecular biology lab experience and experience with next generation sequencing library preparation are essential.
