Husky continues to secure its leadership position through Innovation. Product Development plays a pivotal role in supplying Husky with a continuous stream of Innovations that anticipate and serve market needs. As a Team Leader in Product Development you will be planning, organizing and leading Engineering and Validation Teams toward continuous innovation and development, with adherence to Product Development Process, Husky Standards and Stage Gate. 

Your team will develop and improve products for heating, sensing and motion, as well as hardware and software Controller development of next generation Husky hot runner products. Responsibilities include estimating effort and cost and ensuring delivery meets time, cost and quality targets. Implementation of continuous improvement activities including metrics, root cause analysis and implementation of improvement.

Leadership of engineering and validation teams through Product Development Process. Specifically, supervising and supporting team members regarding:

  • Marketing support, VOC, product scoping, definition and specification
  • Concept development, evaluation and technical recommendations
  • System level design with high attention to detail and adherence to Husky standards
  • Engineering analysis using CAE formats, spreadsheets and hand calculation
  • Design execution with high attention to detail in engineering quality
  • Design document discipline
  • Risk mitigation through past service issue research, risk identification and formal DFMEA
  • Validation plan development and execution
  • Preparation for Product Release Process
  • Project and resource plan development
  • Proactive management of project status, execution timeline and mitigation as required
  • Proactive communication of team status to management
  • Team member development through: providing challenging goals, coaching, mentoring, providing technical leadership opportunity, performance management, individual development planning, interviewing and hiring
  • Team support in developing innovative environment; both formal (tools) and informal
  • Continuous development of team output to a high-quality standard
  • Development of open communication amongst team, across disciplines and outside engineering

  • Post secondary education (University engineering degree)
  • 5-10 years Engineering experience
  • Strong leadership skills and experience with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation)
  • Strong project, time management skills and ability to delegate tasks and projects
  • Previous experience in industrial heating, sensing and thermal management
  • Previous experience in controller hardware and software development for heat and motion control
  • Good knowledge of specific supporting disciplines
  • Confident decision-making and judgment
  • Strong knowledge of Product Development Process, Stage Gate
  • Strong knowledge of the Agile software development process (Scrum methodology)
  • Knowledge of Husky products and customer base
  • Demonstrates high degree of flexibility and embraces changing priorities
