JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of routine and manual housekeeping duties in the care, cleaning and housekeeping maintenance of halls, patient rooms, offices, public and related areas of the institution. Duties may include moving furniture, operating cleaning equipment and delivery of supplies and linens.

B. Assignments received from: Environmental Services Manager and Environmental Supervisors
C. Nature of supervision received: Indirect from Manager; Direct from Environmental Supervisors

E. Interactions with: Department, hospital employees, patients, public
A. Education & Work Experience: Completion of high school or any combination of experience and job training which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job duties.
B. Work Experience At least 3 months
C. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: SOME KNOWLEDGE of basic housekeeping and cleaning procedures; physical layout of hospital buildings and complex. SOME ABILITY to follow written and oral instructions effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients and public. CONSIDERABLE ABILITY to perform moderate to heavy physical duties and lifting, maintain high standards of cleanliness and order control in work areas, understand and develop skill in use of and detection of equipment malfunction.
D. Special Conditions : Moderate to heavy lifting and physical exertion is required. Exposure to hazardous chemicals: acids, disinfectants, ammonia based cleaning products, chlorine based chemicals. May dispose of infectious materials. Weekend rotation may be required. Some shift rotation may be required.
