Role Overview: Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Project Engineer who leads all phases of program execution. A Senior Project Engineer applies scientific principles to innovate, design, develop, and implement systems and technologies to ensure compliance to specifications, requirements, and customer guarantees across applicable operating conditions. Ensures novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools. Key project interface with all areas of business during New Product Introduction process (Program Management, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, and Production). Reviews project and budget status, manages schedules and prepares reports. Monitors and assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals and objective. Establish design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test. Meets program schedules and budgets and maintains the integrated master schedule for project(s). Utilizes Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques to monitor project health and progress. Represents Collins Aerospace as the primary customer contact for projects during New Product Introduction (NPI). Supports the preparation of proposals, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract.
Drive world class project management process through the use of integrated scheduling, earned value reporting, and risk management Work collaboratively with other Engineering disciplines (Systems, Software, Mechanical , and Electrical), Programs, Production, Quality and Supply Chain to achieve optimal design solutions to satisfy customer requirements across applicable operating conditions Identify and address project problems, recommend and implement resolutions to ensure the successful completion of project(s) Forecast project revenues, monitor costs and re-estimate project costs on a monthly basis to maximize project profitability and ensure business targets are met. Ability to balance demands of multiple projects Lead/support root cause investigations and corrective actions for field returns and production issues Support the development of bids based on customer proposal requests Champion superior ethical and professional behavior in all situations.
Familiarity with new product development from component level design through integration, test and entry into service Ability to work across the organization and various disciplines including Engineering, Quality and Operations Experience leading a diverse technical team Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong process skills and familiarity with Continuous Improvement tools and Standard Work processes Engineering/Technical degree required Familiarity with Agile development processes a plus Familiarity with MS Office Suite and MS Project Familiarity with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
